Redefining MCT Testing
Our team members are Certified Cardiographic Technologists (CCTs) with a deep understanding of conditions such as atrial fibrillation, cardiac syncope, and other cardiac arrhythmias.
Our CCTs monitor the transmitted MCT data constantly (24/7) and alert you if any immediately threatening anomalies arise during testing. Once the study ends, our technicians send an all-inclusive report to assist you with appropriate diagnosis and determining treatment options. In-home MCT testing results in better capture of symptoms versus an event or Holter monitor, since patients can be monitored for longer periods of time and during everyday activity. 9

The Epileptic Heart
Patients with chronic epilepsy have a 3-fold greater risk of dying from cardiac arrest, and in 66% of cases, the arrest took place during normal activity with no link to seizures. Research by Verrier and Pang has shown that chronic epilepsy has a “negative impact on the structural integrity of the heart.8” In light of this research, they suggest the concept of The Epileptic Heart to further distinguish the cause of SUDEP as it could be both cardiac and seizure related. Simply put, patients with chronic, poorly controlled epilepsy experience repeated seizures that can actually damage the heart over time, increasing the risk of cardiac arrhythmias and sudden death.8
The importance of prolonged cardiac health monitoring in patients suffering from chronic epilepsy cannot be overstated. All of our video EEG tests include a baseline EKG, but for those patients who are suspected to have an epileptic heart, the MCT test can be added onto the video EEG.
